If you love intersectional feminism, this is the book for you. This theoretical book about the philosophy of posthumanism traces many connections between feminism, technology, machines, cyborgs, queerness, disability, and people of colour. It lays out different tools with which the reader can set out to understand the world from a fundamentally different perspective in regard to feminism. What does that mean? Braidotti, the author, describes how we can rethink the relationships between different aspects of what makes us traditionally human but also our non-human and even inhuman parts. Due to these often-neglected parts of our humanity, she argues from a feminist perspective that there is no universal image of who and what the human is, but rather, only a fragmented collage. Feminism, first and foremost, is about emancipation from oppressive and exploitative systems, especially for women and feminine presenting people and even more so for people of colour and disabled people. In Braidotti’s understanding of who and what the human is, she offers new, tangible perspectives that free us from the shackles of the patriarchy, no matter what it may intersect with; be it capitalism, climate change, ableism, ageism, modern technology, and more.
