LUXEMBOURG LGBTIQ+ PANEL

Focus Group #8 “Queer women in/from the LGBTIQ+ community” (in English)

16th of October 2024 from 6pm-8pm at CID| Fraen an Gender

In Luxembourg, the day-to-day realities of LGBTIQ+ people are largely unknown. This is why the Laboratoire d’Etudes Queer, sur le Genre et les Féminismes (LEQGF) launched the Luxembourg LGBTIQ+ Panel in January 2024. The panel is an action-research on the situation, experiences and aspirations of LGBTIQ+ people in Luxembourg and the border region. Through this study, LEQGF aim to understand the challenges faced by members of the LGBTIQ+ community. They are providing a platform ~ in the form of focus groups ~ where members of the community can reflect, discuss and share their experiences and ideas about being queer in Luxembourg and the border region. Following this, they develop recommendations based on this data, to inform policies and actions designed to improve the quality of life of LGBTIQ+ people. Usually, a panel brings together a group of experts to discuss relevant issues of public interest. For this panel, the expertise comes from the day-to-day experience of LGBTIQ+ people. With their partners (local authorities, associations), LEQGF plan to organise various thematic focus groups that reflect the multiple and intersectional realities of LGBTIQ+ people in Luxembourg, and cover topics like e.g. youth, immigration, work, rural life, discrimination, health, aging, family, racism, and many more.

For this focus group, LEQGF partner up with CID | Fraen an Gender and Pink Ladies – Queer Women Luxembourg to ask women in/from the LGBTIQ+ community: What are their experiences as a queer woman in Luxembourg? What are their expectations towards politics, LGBTIQ+ and feminist organisations, and society in general? LEQGF invite them to share their experiences, ideas and expectations on the topic. This focus group will be in English.

To participate, you must register via the website of the Luxembourg LGBTIQ+ Panel: www.lgbtpanel.lu.
