Looking back at the CID|Y Library Inauguration and ahead to “Summer in the CID|Y”
On Saturday, 10 May 2025, the festive inauguration of the feminist children’s and youth library CID|Y took place. Guests of honour – Minister for Equality and Diversity Yuriko Backes and Luxembourg City’s First Alderman Maurice Bauer – held the ceremonial red ribbon, which was cut by a young reader. In addition to a beautiful book-shaped cake, guests enjoyed delicious child-friendly catering, a tattoo workshop with Irina Moons, a library rally with proud winners, and a painting station. Numerous families with children accepted the invitation from CID | Fraen an Gender, along with politicians and representatives from the National Library and various ministries.
Following the celebration, everything is now set for “Summer in the CID|Y”. Starting 24 May and running every Saturday until the summer break in August, the children’s and youth library offers a colourful programme for all ages.
- 24 May at 10:00: Workshop “Beauty Pressure Online” with Esin Göksoy, for children aged 6 and up.
- 31 May at 10:00 and 12:00: Gender Game hosted by Carole Blond-Hanten (LISER) – four teams (ages 8+) compete in this fun and educational activity.
- 7 June: Big Geocache Day at CID|Y! After a short intro, participants can set off at 10am, 11am, or 12pm to explore the traces of women’s history through the city.
- 14 June from 11:00: Storytelling and creativity workshop by “ArtUp” for the youngest (ages 2+).
- 21 June from 14:00 to 18:00: Cross-stitch workshop for youth aged 12 and older to design their own buttons.
- 28 June from 9:00: Exploring books and stories of people who fight for their own and others’ rights – for kids aged 6+.
- 5 July at 14:00: Creative writing workshop for youth aged 12+, as part of Archive Month.
- 19 July at 10:00: Zine workshop with Nadine Rocco for children and youth aged 9+ – create your own mini-magazine.
- 26 July from 10:00: Creative fuse bead workshop for children aged 6 and up to close the Summer in the CID|Y programme.
