Torrey Peters is the American author of the novel Detransition, Baby, published in January 2021. Torrey participates in a trans literary movement based on trans people who share their writing among each other without barriers. Her debut is a moving character portrait, telling the story of three women – transgender and cisgender – who form together an unconventional family. In Detransition, Baby, Torrey raises questions about gender, motherhood, queer parenting, and sex. While being funny, clever, and insightful, she highlights issues which usually remain hidden. This is a provocative read, which might challenge some, while being rewarding to others.
