The CID is a center and a meeting point for feminism and gender in Luxembourg. The ASBL CID-femmes (Centre d’Information et de Documentation des femmes « Thers Bodé ») was founded in 1992 by a group of women with varying backgrounds. The common motivation was to improve the societal status of women in Luxembourg. From the beginning, the CID pursued the goal of promoting gender equality by covering many different areas. This is reflected in the topics addressed by CID, which range from social-political to cultural concerns.
In 2015, ASBL showed a sign of further openness towards social developments when the name was changed to CID | Fraen an Gender. Gender stands for the fact that we do not deal exclusively with women’s issues, but also with issues around gender.
The work of CID is about actively contributing to achieving gender equality by providing knowledge about women and gender.
The CID is financially supported by the Ministry of Equality between Women and Men, the Ministry of Culture and the City of Luxembourg. We are a member of Conseil National des Femmes du Luxembourg (CNFL), JIF, EWL (European’s Women’s Lobby) and Dachverband der deutschsprachigen Frauenarchive- und bibliotheken i.d.a.
