A few months ago, a petition was launched to include the possibility of work exemptions for employees who experience painful menstruation. The petition was launched by Ornella Romita and very quickly gathered the 4500 signatures needed to organise a debate in the Chamber of Deputies. As this debate is due to take place on 6 October 2021, the JIF platform proposes to debate the issue before the MPs take it up.
The success of this petition has demonstrated the public’s interest in the subject of menstruation. Is the world of work suitable for people with painful periods? How many employees have ever discussed the subject at work? What impact does menstruation have on our bodies and therefore on our productivity? These are some of the questions that will be discussed at this first open meeting of the season.
Let’s talk about periods! Let’s break down the taboos and fuel the public debate together!
